Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information YiQ Translate collects, how we use it, who processes it and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run the service.
01Who we are
YiQ Translate ("YiQ", "we", "us") is operated by Shanghai Qianmu Chenglin Information Technology Co., Ltd., a company registered in the People's Republic of China. This policy covers the international version of the YiQ Translate browser extension and this website, translate.qianmuchenglin.com.
The international version is offered to users outside mainland China. It is not currently offered in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and the extension does not let people in those regions sign up.
Questions or requests: qianmu0331@gmail.com.
02Information we collect
- Email address — to create your account, sign you in and contact you about your account.
- Sign-in codes — the 6-digit codes we email you. We store only a one-way hash of each code, and a code expires 10 minutes after it is sent.
- IP address when you request a sign-in code — to limit abuse such as mass sign-up attempts.
- Installation identifiers — a random install ID created by the extension and a client token issued by our server, used to connect the extension to your free tokens and your account.
- Device fingerprint hash — a one-way hash of general browser characteristics, such as browser and operating system version, screen size, time zone and language. We receive only the hash, not the original values. We use it only to stop people from repeatedly creating accounts to collect free tokens.
- Time zone — sent by the extension when you register, request a sign-in code or check in, to check whether YiQ is available in your region and calculate when your check-in tokens expire. We don't store it separately.
- Usage records — how many tokens each request used and when, so we can keep your balance accurate.
- Server logs — security logs may contain IP addresses, installation IDs and a partly hidden email address when a sign-in code is entered incorrectly.
- Check-in records — the dates on which you claimed daily check-in tokens.
03Text you translate
YiQ reads a page only when you ask it to translate. The text of that page is then sent to our servers in the United States and on to our AI model provider (see "Service providers") to produce the translation. We don't keep the text or the translation on our servers after the request is finished.
To make pages you revisit load faster, the extension keeps a cache of recent translations in your browser's local storage. This cache stays on your device, and removing the extension deletes it.
04What we don't collect
- The addresses (URLs) of the pages you visit or translate, or your browsing history.
- The content of pages you don't ask YiQ to translate.
- Payment information — YiQ has no paid plans yet.
This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and it does not load resources from third parties.
05How we use information
- To provide translations and keep track of your tokens.
- To create and secure your account and send sign-in codes.
- To prevent abuse of free tokens and protect the service.
- To check whether YiQ is available in your region.
- To answer your questions and requests.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
06Service providers
We use the following providers to run YiQ. Each one receives only what it needs for its task.
- Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (United States, Virginia region, in a workspace limited to US deployment) — receives the text you ask YiQ to translate and returns the translation. According to Alibaba Cloud's data retention policy, it keeps prompts and responses from model calls for no longer than 30 days by default; content flagged by its automated safety systems may be kept longer (up to 2 years), and data may be kept longer where the law requires. Alibaba Cloud states that it does not use this data to train its foundation models without separate consent. Alibaba Cloud's Data Retention Policy is the authoritative source and may change.
- Tencent Cloud (United States, Virginia) — hosts our servers and database.
- Tencent Cloud Simple Email Service (Hong Kong) — receives your email address and sign-in codes or service notices to deliver account-related emails.
If we introduce paid plans, payments will be handled by a payment provider, and we will update this policy before that happens.
07Where your data is stored
Our servers and database are in the United States. Sign-in emails are sent through Tencent Cloud's Hong Kong region.
YiQ is operated by a company based in China. Your data is stored on servers in the United States, and our support and operations staff may access it remotely to run and support the service.
08How long we keep information
- Account data (email address, sessions, token balances, check-ins and the installations linked to your account): until you ask us to delete your account.
- Sign-in code records (email address, IP address, code hash and time): deleted automatically after 30 days, whether or not you finished signing up.
- Installations not linked to an account (install ID, device fingerprint hash and free-token claim record): kept to prevent repeated claims of free tokens. They contain no name or email address. If you'd like them deleted, contact us and we'll help you locate the install ID.
- Text you translate: not kept by us. See "Service providers" for our AI provider's retention.
- Server logs: we use these logs for security. Log files have a size limit, and older files are overwritten automatically as new logs are written.
- Backups: we keep daily database backups for 14 days. After we delete your data, copies may remain in backups for up to 14 days until those backups are replaced.
09Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal information by emailing qianmu0331@gmail.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days. Deleting your account removes the account data listed above.
California residents. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we use sign-in credentials only to sign you in and keep your account secure. You won't be treated differently for exercising your privacy rights.
10Chrome Web Store
The use of information received from the YiQ Translate extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
11Cookies and Do Not Track
This website does not use cookies. The extension uses your browser's local storage to keep your settings, your sign-in state and its translation cache. Because we don't track you across websites, "Do Not Track" signals don't change anything we do.
12Security
- All connections use HTTPS.
- Session tokens and sign-in codes are stored only as SHA-256 hashes.
- Service keys have only the permissions they need — for example, our email key can only send email.
- Only authorized operators can access the database.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects your account, as required by law.
13Children
YiQ is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we change the "Last updated" date above. If a change is significant, we'll announce it on this website and notify account holders by email before it takes effect.
